Elena Meredith has managed hundreds of publicity campaigns for authors and publishers. She loves sharing impactful stories and has launched books for novelists, educators, psychologists, scientists, alpinists, surfers, environmentalists, professors and even a poop-recycling Biospherian. She believes books are the best medium for educating people and promoting empathy and understanding of one another. One of her proudest accomplishments as a publicist is helping an author launch his books, literally, to space, establishing the reading program Story Time From Space.
Her approach to PR is a combination of thorough planning and staying nimble in a changing digital landscape. Her creative, thoughtful messaging and quick pitching has earned placements in a variety of media outlets across print, online, television and radio, including CNN, Entertainment Weekly, Foreword Reviews, FOX News, Huffington Post, Los Angeles Times, MindBodyGreen, Nerdist, Parade, Parents, Popular Science radio, Publishers Weekly, Psychology Today, Rolling Stone, Shelf Awareness, Sirius XM, USA Today, Vanity Fair, Variety, Village Voice, VICE, Washington Post, Working Mother radio and more.
Elena has worked in the book industry most of her life—from growing up in her family’s bookstore to working as an author’s assistant in college. She joined PR by the Book in 2013, previously serving as publicist for Free Spirit Publishing in Minneapolis. She holds a B.A. in creative writing from University of Tampa.
A Minnesota native, Elena enjoys being outside 365 days a year in Texas. She stays active with dance, yoga and hiking the hills of Austin with her husband and their dog, Fox. View Elena’s Full Profile
Judy McDonough is a twenty-year PR and media specialist; her background in entertainment and music gives her a fresh, unique perspective when planning a full-service publicity campaign for authors and their projects. Over the years she has secured media for clients at nearly every major media outlet in the country, with recent hits that include Today, CBS Evening News, CBS This Morning, New York Times, Associated Press, People, NPR, Us Magazine, Fox & Friends, CNN New Day, SiriusXM, Wall Street Journal, Voice of America, Publishers Weekly, Parade, American Profile, Entertainment Tonight and many others.
Judy came to PR by the Book from Thomas Nelson imprint W Publishing Group, where she worked as Director of Publicity. While at W Publishing, she worked on campaigns for such top-selling authors as David Jeremiah, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs and HGTV superstars Chip & Joanna Gaines. Before that, Judy ran her own independent PR firm, JEMMedia, representing festivals and music events, record labels, recording artists and reality TV stars.
Prior to starting JEMMedia, Judy was a long-time publicist at Capitol Records Nashville, where she worked with such artists as Keith Urban, Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, Garth Brooks, Darius Rucker and many others.
A native St. Louisan, Judy has lived in Nashville long enough to be a passionate (and long-suffering) Tennessee Titans fan. She loves travel – especially to Ireland and Brazil – and can often be found in her kitchen, creating new recipes or trying something from her extensive cookbook collection.
Paxton Kelly joined PR by the Book, LLC in September of 2014 and has since worn numerous hats within the company: intern, full-time Office Manager and part-time Assistant Publicist. Paxton is now the full-time Assistant Publicist. She graduated from Texas State University with a B.A. in Public Relations and a B.A. in English. Paxton is originally from Niagara Falls, New York, but grew up in Houston and now lives in Austin. Paxton enjoys spending time with family, cheering on her teams (Yankees, Houston Texans and Everton F.C.), reading and traveling as often as she can.
