Case Study: Tor Books, Publisher of Black Scorpion by Jon Land

In March 2015, Tor Books came to us with USA Today bestselling author Jon Land’s next action-packed thriller. Black Scorpion: The Tyrant Reborn takes place five years after Michael Tiranno saved Sin City from a terrorist attack and now he faces an all-powerful human trafficking organization called Black Scorpion.

Here at PR by the Book, we kicked off a blog tour, taking place April 6-10, with an announcement on our blog and by posting to our social media platforms, using the official hashtag for the tour so fans could follow along, #BlackScorpionBlogTour.

We recruited 40+ blogs to cover Black Scorpion, including A Mama’s Corner of the World (6,226 Twitter followers), A Dream Within a Dream (7,242 Twitter followers), My Book Addiction Reviews (5,432 subscribers) and Mary’s Cup of Tea. An interview with author Jon Land was also featured on pop culture website Forces of Geek (20K visitors a month), addressing topics from his creative process of writing to his collaboration with DC Comics.

The blog tour was a success, with just six short weeks to pull it off, and Jon Land was incredibly engaging, conducting individual Q&As and interacting with our bloggers on a personal level. Currently, a Hollywood feature film is in the works based on the blended adaptation of Black Scorpion and its predecessor, The Seven Sins. Both having been licensed to DC Comics for comic books and graphic novels.
