Saint Louise House “Mother & Me Tea”

POSTED BY elaine ON March 15, 2012

Here, at PR by the Book, we are very excited about a Mother’s Day themed event hosted by our favorite local nonprofit, Saint Louise House (You can see our CEO Marika Flatt talking about SLH for I Live Here, I Give Here).

Saint Louise House is an Austin-based non-profit whose mission is to help single-women-led households rebuild their lives and their children’s lives after being homeless. They are hosting the inaugural “Mother and Me Tea” to celebrate important women in all of our lives and to raise funds to continue helping homeless women create a brighter future for their families.

THE EVENT: Mother and Me Tea benefiting Saint Louise House

HONORARY CHAIRPERSON: Kristen Armstrong, local writer, speaker and mother of three

DATE & TIME: Sunday, May 6, 2012, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

LOCATION: The Allan House, 1104 San Antonio Street, Austin

ABOUT THE TEA:

The Mother and Me Tea will be a magical event to celebrate the important women in our lives – mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, aunts and friends, while we also celebrate the more than 125 families that have called Saint Louise House home. The Tea will raise funds to support the organization’s expansion efforts to serve even more families in need. The event will feature a high tea, fashion show, children’s activities, silent auction and a chance for all in attendance to dress up in their tea party finery!

One of the reasons we’re behind this organization is that they help these single moms create a better life for themselves and their kids through counseling on everything from financial issues to relationship issues to helping them find a job or student loans to pursue a higher education.

A program alumna who had once lived in the cab of an abandoned 18-wheeler recently closed on her very first home. As she noted, “Saint Louise House helped me learn how to function after so many hard times. They gave me a chance to start over in a more successful life.”

ABOUT Saint Louise House:

Founded in Austin in 2000, Saint Louise House provides deeply affordable housing and supportive services to mothers and children impacted by homelessness in Central Texas. With a firm belief in the power of women to transform their lives, their families and our community, licensed social workers and case managers partner with residents to reach their individual goals. In apartment-style housing environment, families are embraced and encouraged to be a part of our supportive community as they work or attend school. Saint Louise House collaborates with our families, partner organizations, donors and volunteers to serve the most vulnerable of our community in their hour of need—and in the months and years that follow.

SPONSORSHIP: Sponsorship opportunities range from $2,500 to $500 and individual tickets are $25 each.

Meet our client Rex Pickett: Author of Sideways!

Meet our client Rex Pickett: Author of Sideways!

Sideways is probably one of my favorite movies in the whole wide world. It is a story that (much like fine wine) has gotten even more appealing to me with time, with a main character I empathize with — even relate to — as I get older. Paul Giamatti is such a perfect foil to [...]

Announcing the 2012 Writers League of Texas Agents Conference

Whenever I talk to an author hopeful who wants to know more about the book publishing process, or even has a manuscript secreted away in their desk drawer, I always recommend the WLT Agents Conference. I think it’s seriously one of the coolest events of its kind, devoted to helping would-be authors learn to savvily [...]
