Job Title: Social Media Publicist – Part-time/Contract

Job Description: The social media publicist position will assist the publicity team to develop, execute, and monitor social media campaigns for publishing houses, independently published authors, experts and businesses. Key book genres represented include: business, food, children’s, parenting, lifestyle, self-help, Christian and fiction. Position includes: executing social media campaigns, coordinating with online media campaigns when necessary, social media responsibilities for traditional media relations campaigns, PR by the Book social media activities, proactive client communication, collaborating and executing delegated assignments from team members.

– Self-starter with initiative and creativity
– 2+ years of social media/PR campaign development & execution
– Proactive problem solver that is solutions oriented
– Interest in books
– Positive attitude/team player
– Proficiency in Social Media Applications: FB, Twitter, Pinterest
– Understanding of Cision, PR Newswire, Blogdash and MediaBistro
– Independently manages work flow
– Excellent communication skills
– Strong social media writing skills


– Develop and execute social media campaigns.
– Social media review and consultation, content generation, ongoing social media audit and support.
– Communicate/create online voice for client.
– Support traditional media campaigns through social media platforms.
– Assist with writing social media potential client proposals.
– Occasional travel to attend industry conferences and assist publicity team with media meetings to develop media relationships.
– Research newsworthy topics/events, angles, influencers and social media trends.
– Attend client and potential client meetings(evening/weekends occasionally).
– Manage content for PR by the Book website and blog – includes writing original content and finding guest blogger opportunities
– Lead PR by the Book social media outreach
– Occasionally find opportunities to reach out to influencers/media via social media for any PR by the Book clients
– Familiarity with Google Analytics
– Manage Google Analytics Reports for and

IT Qualifications (hardware/software/applications):

– Mobile phone(preferred – not required) – Apple 4g(iOS5) or Android 2.3(Gingerbread)
– High Speed Internet Connection(3mb down and 1mb up)
– Microsoft Office
– GoogleApps for Business (gmail, Google docs)
– Basic understanding of Google Analytics
– WordPress
– Filemaker
– VOIP phone system
– Mac or PC basic skills
– Solve360
