PR by the Book, First PR Organization to Offer Digital Review Copies Through NetGalley

POSTED BY babs ON January 24, 2011

The New Frontier: Offering Digital Review Copies Through NetGalley

PR by the Book has officially become the very first book PR firm to partner with NetGalley. As a boutique firm, we work hard to remain forward-thinking, technologically-savvy, and on the forefront of the contemporary landscape of this ever-changing industry.

We are now using NetGalley to distribute digital galleys and digital press kits (including video, audio, tour schedules, author Q&As, and photos) to reviewers, bloggers, media, booksellers, librarians, and educators for select clients.

One of the largest expenses for our clients, both publishers and independent authors alike, involves the shipping of review copies to media outlets. We are hopeful that, through the use of NetGalley, our clients can dramatically cut their printing, shipping and postage expenses. We are equally enthusiastic about offering this digital alternative to remain up-to-speed with media outlets who prefer this electronic way of reviewing books and, we strive to be more “green” when possible.

Using NetGalley, our publicists will be able to share secure, text-searchable, full-color digital galleys, which the reader can download onto a variety of devices, including: Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo Reader, and the user’s desktop.  Distributing galleys and marketing material through NetGalley is a faster, more efficient, and environmentally conscious method of sharing publicity content.

We are always looking to expand our reach into the reviewer and blogger community, delivering digital galleys to our own extensive contact lists, as well as NetGalley’s network of readers who are both hungry for books and embracing the technology—and ease and speed of delivery – that this new platform offers. NetGalley’s membership currently numbers 16,000 “professional readers.” Reviewers and media outlets can register and use the site for free at www.netgalley.com.

Our launch catalog on NetGalley includes new titles from Calvin Helin, Dr. Tracey Marks, James Harvey, Lucas Miller, Ilene Val-Essen and Steve McSwain.  The catalog (see title list below) will expand in the coming months:
The Economic Dependency Trap by Calvin Helin (Jan 2011)
Master Your Sleep by  Tracey Marks, MD (Feb 2011)
Grayton Beach Affair by James Harvey (March 2011)
Bluebonnet Time! by Lucas Miller (April 2011)
Bring Out the Best in Your Child and Your Self by Dr. Ilene Val-Essen (2010)
After Isaactown by Ward Jones (2010)
The Enoch Factor by Dr. Steve McSwain (2010)

Marika Flatt is the founder of PR by the Book, a boutique publicity firm specializing in literary media relations campaigns, publishing consultation, small business publicity, and publicity tours for authors and experts. I was so excited when I got the email that PR by the Book was onboard at netgalley! Not to through a wrench into the excitement, but I do hope they are able to offer kindle access again soon. It made this reviewer much more likely to be involved.
