Socialnomics: Social Media Revolution
In less than 3 minutes, this clip speaks volumes about the power of social media. We’re happy to see such cool visual tools like this one popping up in the WWW — they encapsulate what we’ve evangelizing for years. This piece is actually a book trailer for Wiley’s socialnomics by Erik Qualman. Bravo friends, bravo!
We just returned this week from BookExpo in New York where the buzz was all things social media/electronic/digital. This year, a book blogger convention followed the close of BEA. Several hundred dedicated book bloggers convened to discuss ethics and publishers courted them with office tours and peeks into their review copy storage areas and led discussions about how to best work together.
See? This social media thing (as it relates to book publicity) is catching on. It’s no longer just for killing time [wasting company time] or college kids, it’s for reals. And it’s a legitimate, important key in the book publicity process too. There, we said it. In fact, according to a recent Publisher’s Weekly article, more and more publishing houses today are dedicating a team of marketing pros to the hefty task of social media and online strategy.
Stay tuned: we’ll share the goods we gleaned from industry panels in a BEA 2010 wrap-up very soon!
