Why does Austin love SXSW? Because this is a place where ideas are born, like Twitter for example, and other rising stars on the social media frontier.

It’s a SUPER exciting time to be in Austin right now — SXSW Interactive starts tomorrow & the city is abuzz. The energy feels like the day before the first day of school, only in grown-up nerd terms. Parks are already cordoned off ready & waiting for day parties and Austin-Bergstrom Airport is unleashing Social Media’s rockstars — current, future & wannabes — by the plane-load.

Many Austinites are avoiding the mayhem, but we’re also on heightened celeb-spotting alert. Hey, last year Bill Murray played bartender at a dive-y Eastside establishment, and shoe maven Steve Madden made the rounds at parties & shows. Anything is possible. Tomorrow, crowds of SXSW-goers will flood Fourth to Sixth Streets (walking & texting & tweeting all at once). Also, cell phone signals are jammed for this very reason. Whatever your fancy — interactive, music or film — we wanted to say WELCOME. We like to say that SXSW is everyday in Austin, and it really is.
