Recycled Reads – Austin, TX
POSTED BY prbythebook ON February 28, 2013
We love our city! There are so many great things to do here with your family, with friends and on your own. An integral part of the “Keep Austin Weird” scene is all of the Austinites who create and support great causes. Recycled Reads is one of those causes. Run by volunteers, Recycled Reads gives books withdrawn from libraries and taken from community donations a 2nd chance at life. This weekend in Austin, they are celebrating their 4th year in business and inviting you to help them celebrate! Check-out the event information below:
Recycled Reads is celebrating 4 years of business selling books weeded from the Austin Public Library shelves and from local donations. Join them on Saturday, March 2, 2013, from noon – 6 p.m. for their 4th anniversary celebration, featuring live music, a puppet show, craft demos, and more. Purchase a limited-edition repurposed book planter and autograph the back of their new window sign. This is a free, family-friendly event and all proceeds from sales will benefit the Austin Public Library.
The puppet show will be a Literature Live! performance of Anansi and the Golden Box of Stories at 1 p.m. In order to win a golden box of all of the world’s stories, Anansi, the “spider man” uses his brains, wits, and some clever techniques to complete the difficult tasks asked of him by Nyame, the Sky God.
For more information, visit the Austin Public Library’s website for both the Recycled Reads anniversary and the Literature Live! performance.
