Client highlight: The Tribute Flight

Most of our campaigns at PR by the Book are for just that – books! But every once in a while, we hear about a project that we instantly fall in love with and want to do what we can to help the cause. Such is the case with The Tribute Flight.
The Tribute Flight is a 77-day mission (date to be announced soon) flown in a specially modified aircraft bearing the names of American and Coalition troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The aircraft, called the Tribute Eagle, will not only honor fallen American and Coalition military personnel but will also serve as a venue to raise money for wounded American veterans through a pictorial book and DVD documenting the flight, both titled Flight of the Tribute.
This is John Galloway’s brain child. He is a pilot, flight instructor and, coincidentally, a twice published author. Although he has never served in the Armed Forces, he has a deep respect for military personnel and a sense of duty to support those currently serving.
He plans to launch The Tribute Eagle and fly to every U.S. state during a 77-day period, landing at the towns and cities where fallen troops come from and visiting between 5 and ten airports everyday! On the final day of the mission this distinctive aircraft will land at Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility outside Washington, DC, where the families of the lost will gather to remember their fallen loved ones. Final day arrangements will also include custom-made banners on display to honor each casualty.
Galloway’s vision for The Tribute Flight is not simply a series of flights with sporadic displays of homage and nationalism, but instead one of the greatest aviation and humanitarian endeavors of the new century. By the conclusion of this mission, he hopes to raise millions of dollars for wounded veterans and for the Tribute Eagle to be the new and enduring symbol of American patriotism.
