What are you reading over the Thanksgiving holiday?

POSTED BY mrenart ON November 9, 2011

Thanksgiving is a time when many of us like to sink our teeth into not just turkey legs, but juicy new books.

I took a poll of PR by the Book publicists, and here is what everyone is looking forward to reading over the Thanksgiving holiday:

Megan: “I should be reading the Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach for my book club. But I have my eye on Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns)? as the one I really want to start first…”

Tolly: ” I just started Both Ways is the Only Way I Want It by Maile Meloy, and it’s a short story collection.  It came out in 2009, and was named among the 10 Best Books of 2009 by the New York Times Book Review (whoa).  I looooove it.  Simple stories that are so thoughtfully crafted, and yet, not fussy — these pieces focus on regular people.  Maile Meloy is the author of Liars and Saints, and one of my author crushes: I admire the way her writing seems so effortless and to-the-point, with just the slightest, tiniest bit of danger underpinning each tale.”

Babs: “I just started the 2nd book in Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series: The Girl Who Played with Fire.  Hoping to carve out enough time to finish over the holidays!”

Emily: “I can’t wait to dive into Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs and The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides.” [Ed. note: I looked up the first title and creeped myself out. Sold! I'm going to read that one, too.]

Elaine: “All the books I’m reading at least through Christmas are school related. So, does The Omnivore’s Dilemma count?” [Ed. note: yes, yes it does.]

Marika: This is the one I’m looking forward to reading–it’s called Unquenchable: A Tipsy Quest for the World’s Best Bargain Wines by Natalie MacLean  [Ed. note: or, A Day in the Life of Most of My Friends]
